Liverpool's Europa League Campaign Ends with a Whimper

Jurgen Klopp's men crash out of Europe after a 3-1 aggregate defeat to Atalanta

Mohamed Salah's goal in Italy not enough to save Liverpool

Liverpool's Europa League campaign came to an end on Thursday night as they were defeated 3-1 on aggregate by Atalanta. Despite Mohamed Salah scoring in a 1-0 win in Italy, the Reds were unable to overcome the deficit from the first leg.

Jurgen Klopp's men were second best for much of the game and Atalanta could have won by a bigger margin had they been more clinical in front of goal. Liverpool's defeat means that they have now failed to win a trophy this season and it is a major blow to their hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Liverpool will now have to focus on the Premier League and the FA Cup. They are currently third in the league table, six points behind leaders Manchester City, and they face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-finals on Saturday.
